For law firms.
Engagement letters, authorities and client files under your own name, with the identity check record beside them.
What firms like yours send
- Letters of engagement and client care information.
- Authorities and instructions from clients, with each clause ticked on its own.
- Agreements and other documents that the law lets your clients sign online.
- Document requests for ID, trust deeds and company records.
Identity checks on record
In New Zealand, lawyers have had AML/CFT duties since 2018. In Australia, many lawyers and conveyancers have AML/CTF duties for some services since 1 July 2026. Signpane lets you record each identity check, the evidence you saw and who the person acts for, next to the client's documents. Each check stays as recorded. Signpane keeps the record; deciding what checks the law needs is still up to you.
A record you can defend
Every signed document comes with an audit certificate: who signed, when, from what address, and the fingerprint of the document before and after. If the document changes after you send it, the request stops, so nobody signs something they were not sent. Anyone can check a signed copy against our record on a public page, without uploading it.
Witnessed and paper-only documents
Some documents still need a witness, a wet signature or a set form, and the rules differ between New Zealand and each Australian state. Signpane does not decide that for you. Use it for the documents that can be signed online.
Under your name
Clients open docs.yourfirm.co.nz or docs.yourfirm.com.au, see your
logo and colours, and get emails from your firm with replies coming back to you. A small
"Secured by Signpane" line sits in the footer.
